Power up on safety
We all have a role to play in keeping safe around our networks, and by following the correct safety guidelines and protocols and reporting anything that might not be safe, we can help make our homes, workplaces, and communities safer for everyone.
You can do your bit by keeping your service lines maintained, including maintaining your trees around our lines as well as reporting damaged network lines and equipment to us.
If you see damaged, open, sparking, or unsafe electrical equipment, stay well away and call us immediately on 0508 VECTOR (0508 832 867). If there is an immediate danger to life or property, call 111.
Remember to keep well clear of transformers, power boxes, and other electrical equipment. Don't touch, climb on, sit on, or place anything near this equipment.

Working around our overhead or underground networks?
If you’re planning building, digging, landscaping, tree work or maintenance near Vector equipment, there are a number of safe working practices that you need to follow.
- Stay at least 4 metres away from power lines, transformers and electrical equipment.
- Do not dig near power poles, stay wires or underground cables without checking first.
- Keep plants, fences, vehicles and stored items clear of Vector equipment so crews can access it safely.
You may need to request reference maps or a close approach consents if you're working near overhead lines. Get information on all the services and safe working practices.
