A free light show like no other, right on the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Part of a smart energy partnership between Vector, Auckland Council and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi.

Vector Lights is a spectacular, solar-powered light display on Auckland’s iconic Harbour Bridge, celebrating iconic events, festivals and days of significance. It’s more than just a show - it's a celebration of our city, our stories, and our journey toward a smarter energy future.

Powered by advanced clean energy technology, we light the bridge responsibly, showcasing a smart energy solution in action.

  • Solar panels capture energy during the day
  • Tesla Powerpack battery stores that energy for use at night
  • Smart meters on the bridge and battery communicate every 10 seconds
  • Peer-to-peer tech ensures only the exact amount of energy needed is released—no more, no less

19 June 2025 Vector Lights for Matariki 2025

Mānawatia a Matariki! Celebrate Matariki and the national holiday with Vector Lights on the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge. Created by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, the light and sound show runs every night between 19 – 28 June. The first show begins at 6pm and runs until midnight, playing every 15 minutes.
