Vector continuing with work if safe to do so
Since the government’s announcement about Auckland moving to Alert Level 3, we have moved quickly to adapt the way we work. The safety of our customers and our people remain our top priority.
Below is our latest update on planned outages and other work that may impact customers.
Planned Outages
We’ve cancelled or postponed planned outages under Alert Level 3 where possible. Where work is related to safety or maintenance to deliver a reliable supply, this has proceeded as planned but with careful thought given to reducing the inconvenience to as many customers as possible.
If you’ve received notification that your planned outage is progressing as scheduled, please know that this decision was made with careful consideration. As always, we aim to balance the temporary inconvenience to customers with the need to upgrade, repair and maintain electricity assets to provide a reliable supply of power to homes and businesses.
If you’re unsure if your planned outage is going ahead, please check the status of your planned outages here as this list is updated daily.
Other work
Like planned outages, major programmes of work carried out over a longer period of time, have been reviewed and will continue if they were already in flight before the lockdown. However, our project managers have also worked to minimise temporary inconvenience to customers by re-designing how the work is carried out.
Work to enable new connections has also been continued. However, if an outage is required, an additional assessment will be made on the customer impact before work can progress.
All our crews currently still working in the field are observing social distancing and wearing the right safety equipment. Note that there may be some instances where it is unsafe for field crew to continue wearing masks, such as when safety glasses fog up and impair vision.
If you see our crews out and about, give them a thumbs up, they’ll appreciate this!
Stay safe, kia kaha.
