Work is being carried out in the Victoria Park area to reinforce the electricity supply and bring a secure power supply to the Victoria Park Tunnel.

 

Project timing:27 December 2010 – 31 March 2011, weather permitting.

 

We will be installing ducting within the road way to allow for the installation of new cables early in 2011.  This work is scheduled to be completed by the end of March, howeverwork will be carried out in stages along the road so will only affect areas for a small amount of this time.

 

The work will involve excavation in the road in short sections, installation of ducts, and backfill and road reinstatement.  Cables will be installed through the entire length of ducts once all sections are complete. 

 

Hours of work:Our hours of work will be Monday to Saturday 7:30am to 4:00pm

 

Streets affected:Victoria Street West, Drake Street, Union Street

 

We are mindful that people live in the area and we will be making every effort to minimise disruption, especially noise. Our work hours are in line with Council permitted work hours for the area.

  

The power supply should not be affected in any way.

 

To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the duration of the project. In most cases, the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained.



There may be some disruption to parking. The specific area to be worked in will be coned off in the morning of the day that works are to take place and parking will not be available.

 

The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works in most case, but in some instances pedestrians may be asked to use the other side of the road.

 

Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
