Vector is undertaking a cable replacement project to reinforce the power supply in Sandringham to ensure our customers continue to receive a secure power supply.
Streets affected by this work include: Sandringham Road Extension, other side streets affected include Sheppard Avenue, Grifford Avenue, Skeates Avenue, Farrelly Avenue, Wiliam Blofield Avenue
Project timing: 13 November 2010 – March 2011
The project work will be carried out in sections throughout the area and should only directly affect the road frontage outside each property for a small amount of this time.
Hours of work:Our hours of work will generally be Monday to Saturday, 7am to 10pm and Sunday from 9am to 10pm.
What work is being carried out?
To allow new cables to be installed in the early part of 2011, ducting is being installed through Sandringham Road Extension from 696 Sandringham Road (Mount Albert intersection) to 790 Sandringham Road (Stoddard Road intersection).
There will be a second stage of works in March/April 2011 involving the installation of the cable. This will be localised works at smaller excavations.
The work will be carried out by open trenching for the majority of the length of the project, but where it is more practical we will use trenchless methods.
In the unlikely event that these will affect any driveways, we will consult with affected customers before we begin work and will ensure that access to their driveway is maintained while the works are underway.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the duration of the project. In most cases, the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained. The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.
The power supply in the area should not be affected by work. In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, affected customers will be notified in advance of this occurring.
We apologise, in advance, for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.
