Vector is undertaking an undergrounding project on Ocean View Rd, Waiheke Island. We are coordinating works with Telecom, and the overhead power and telephone lines will be replaced with underground cables at the same time. Auckland City Council will also be installing new streetlights as part of this project.

Streets affected by this work include: Ocean View Road, Mako Street

Project timing: April 2010 – 21 June 2010

The project work will be carried out in sections throughout the area and should only directly affect the road frontage outside each property for a small amount of this time.

Project details:

Some customer power and phone lines within the area of works will be undergrounded. We will underground power lines down shared driveways for the first span. Due to the terrain, some customers will still have an overhead service from a pole located on their property. However, all overhead reticulation in the road reserve will be undergrounded.

The power supply in the area should not be affected by the work, except for when the change over from overhead to underground service to a property is required. A short power outage will be needed for each property to complete this process. Customers will be consulted with in advance.

To ensure a safe and smooth flow of traffic, full traffic management plans are in place for the area. The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works. In most cases, the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained.

Hi Julie, New Lynn falls outside the AECT area for the undergrounding programme (which is Auckland City, Manukau City and parts of Papakura District) and unfortunately there are no plans to carry out undergrounding work in your area at this time. Hi I was wondering when

I was wondering when Vector will be undergrounding the New Lynn area. We live in Gilliam St towards Green Bay/Titirangi, it is a leafy area with a lot of native birds. Our area would appreciate consideration for undergrounding work to be completed to compliment the area and enable more planting of natives to encourage our native bird population. Additionally, New Lynn is undergoing a major transformation and undergrounding would also fit in with this as major works are happening in the area.
