Project File

Vector is undertaking an electricity cable upgrade project to reinforce the power supply in the Mills Lane area to ensure our customers continue to receive a secure power supply.

Project timing:
Stage 1: January 2012 – May 2012
Stage 2: July 2012 – January 2013

Hours of work
The hours of work will generally be 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 4pm on the weekends. The project schedule allows for the fastest possible completion and minimum level of disruption under noise and safety restrictions for the type of work that is taking place.

How is the work carried out?
The work will be staged, with street works installing duct in the road first – during 27 January to the end of May 2012. This should only directly affect the road frontage outside properties for a small amount of this time as construction will be carried out in sections.

The second stage of the works will involve cable installation and equipment swap-out, and will take place during the months of July 2012 to January 2013.

Streets affected by this work include: Mills Lane off Albert Street, and intersection of Mills Lane with Swanson Street

Will the power supply be affected?
No, the power supply in the area should not be affected by work. In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, affected customers will be notified in advance of this occurring.

Will the work affect my driveway?
In the event that these will affect any driveways, we will consult with affected customers before we begin work and will ensure that access is maintained while the works are underway.

Traffic and pedestrian management
Full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the project work. The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.

We apologise, in advance, for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.
