Project File

Vector is installing new 11,000V underground cables from 105 Hillsborough Road along Hillsborough Road, Herd Road and Pah Road. The work is being carried out to improve the quality and reliability of the power supply in the Hillsborough area.

Project dates: September 2009 to December 2009

When will the work be done?
No work will be carried out during peak periods along major roads (such as Hillsborough Road, Pah Road, etc). the hours of work along major roads will be 9am – 3pm.

The work will take place in small sections along the route to minimise disruption.

An arborist has been engaged to provide protection for trees where Vector is work in close proximity to them

How will the work be carried out?
In places where we open trenches, we will consult customers whose driveways are affected before the work begins. Trenches will be covered by steel plates or filled for temporary reinstatement while the work is being carried out.

Access to footpaths and traffic management

At times the footpath will be closed where the work is being carried out and pedestrians will be asked to use the other side of the road.

A traffic management plan is in place to ensure smooth traffic flow. Most of the work will be carried out in the berm and at times sections of the road may have one-way traffic flow controlled by our work crew for their safety.

The power supply
The ongoing work will not affect the power supply to customers along the route.

Affected streets - cable route
Hillsborough Road (Between SH20 and Haughey Ave), all of Herd Road, Queenstown Road (Between Herd Road and Trafalgar Street) and Pah Road (Between Trafalgar Street and 108 Pah Road).

We apologise for any inconvenience caused
Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. We apologise for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.

Hi, I own a house at 28,

Hi,

I own a house at 28, Goodall Street, Hillsborough. The power cables on this street has been laid underground except for the two properties at 28 and 30 Goodall Street. Power/Telephone to both properties are from a single pole, which is alredy starting to lean and the power cables are hanging across driveway, resting on tree branches.

I appreciate Vector looking into this promptly and kindly arrange the power lines to be supplied underground.

Regards,
Ranjan

Hi Ranjan Pah Road was

Hi Ranjan
Pah Road was probably undergrounded in the 80’s or 90’s by the then owner of the lines - either the AEPB or Mercury.

This kind of undergrounding work fall outside the scope of our current undergrounding programme (see 'how we select areas' http://www.vector.co.nz/projects/undergrounding), however, we are happy to remove the pole if the service lines are undergrounded. The property owner owns the service lines (see http://www.vector.co.nz/electricity/your-responsibilities) so will need to pay to have this work done. For a quote you can call 529 8444.

It is important to keep trees trimmed and clear of power lines to protect the power supply. As the owner of the service lines you are responsible for arranging to have your trees trimmed by a professional arborist or you can do the work yourself. However, service lines are dangerous so before any tree trimming work is carried out near service lines please call us on 0508 VECTOR to have your power temporally disconnected. This service is free.

I hope this information helps - any further questions please let us know.
Regards
Tammy
