In partnership with Auckland City Council, Vector is undertaking a project to underground all existing overhead lines on Cricket Avenue and Reimers Avenue and parts of Walters Road, including connections to houses, which will result in an enhanced streetscape for the area.

Project Timing: February 2010 – late June 2010

To minimise disruption to residents work will be carried out in sections within the project block and should only directly affect any one property for a short amounts of this time.

Streets to benefit from this project include:

Walters Road, Cricket Avenue and Reimers Avenue.

Work details:

All overhead lines will be removed and undergrounded. Sixty electricity and telephone poles within the area of works will also be replaced by underground cables and new streetlights installed.

The works should only directly affect the road frontage outside each property on the project route for a short amount of this time. Pedestrian access may be affected by excavations in the grass verge/footpath as the works take place and traffic may also be affected as it passes the worksites. If any excavations affect access to driveways, residents will be notified and consulted before the work begins. The affected roads and footpaths will be resurfaced.

Full traffic and pedestrian management plans are in place to minimise disruption.

The worksites have been designed to that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.

We don't have any undergrounding work scheduled in the Sandringham area within the next 18 months. But our planned work schedule is reviewed every year and Kingsway Ave, as with all areas in Trust region, will be considered for future undergrounding.
