Project File

Vector is upgrading its Clendon substation to provide additional capacity in the area to meet increased demands for electricity and provide power in the area.

We have recently constructed a new substation at 418 Roscommon Rd, supplied from the Transpower substation in Great South Rd. We are now completing the final stage of construction of the electricity supply cables (11kV) out of the substation.

Streets affected
Roscommon Road (from Browns Road to Clendon park roundabout), Weymouth Road (from Etherton Drive to Gibbons Road)

Project timing: March – June 2010
The work should only directly affect the road frontage outside properties for a small amount of this time as construction will be carried out in sections.

How will the work be carried out?
The work will be carried out predominantly using trenchless methods, but in some places we may need to dig trenches. In the unlikely event that these will affect any driveways, we will consult with affected customers before we begin work and will ensure that access to these driveways is maintained while the works are underway.

Will the power supply be affected?
The power supply in the area should not be affected by work. In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, affected customers will be notified in advance of this occurring.

Traffic and pedestrian management
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the duration of the project. In most cases, the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained.

The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.

Thank you for your cooperation. Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. We apologise, in advance, for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.
