Clendon substation construction and cabling project

Start Date:
8 Mar 2009

Vector is constructing a new substation at 418 Roscommon Road. The substation will reinforce the electricity network in the area and ensure customers continue to receive a reliable power supply.

As part of this project we also need to install new high voltages supply cables along Roscommon Road.

These new cables will provide an electricity supply directly from the Transpower substation in Great North Road to our new substation. The main substation building construction and cabling work is expected to take four months to complete.

Our work hours will generally be 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm Saturday.

The substation property has been vacant and has been used by the public as an access-way to Roscommon Road from Funnell Place.

Because the property is now a construction site, for safety reasons, we must restrict access to the property to authorised persons only.

Public access across the site will no longer be permitted. The cables we are installing along Roscommon Road will be installed in the grass median in the middle of the road and should not affect the traffic flow.

To ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic, full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the duration of the project. As most of the work is in the middle of the road the effect on pedestrians will be minimal.

The power supply should not be affected in any way by this work.

In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, you will be notified in advance of this occurring. Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

We apologise for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.
