We are installing new electricity cables underground in Victoria Street West, from Hobson Street to Dock Street area. The work is being carried out to ensure you continue to receive a secure power supply.
Project timing: 26 December 2009 – 26 February 2010
Streets Affected by the project works: Victoria Street West from Hobson Street to Dock Street.
What work is being carried out
Trenching and installing 22kV cables to extend the 22kV network within the CBD.
How will the work be carried out?
The work will be carried out predominantly using open trench methods in the carriageway.
Will the work affect my driveway?
In the event that these will affect any driveways, we will consult with affected customers before we begin work and will ensure that access is maintained while the works are underway.
Hours of work
Our hours of work will be Monday to Friday 7:00am to 10:00pm
Will the power supply be affected?
The power supply in the area should not be affected by work. In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, affected customers will be notified in advance of this occurring.
Traffic and pedestrian management
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic, full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the duration of the project. In most cases, the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained.
The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.
