Project File
We are carrying out work along Beach Road to reinforce the electricity network.
Project timing: 5 May to 30 June 2010 – weather permitting.
What work is being carried out
In January we installed cable ducts under Beach Road, Mahuhu Crescent, Tapora Street and across Quay Street to our Quay Street substation. We are now installing cables in those ducts.
How will the work be carried out?
The cables will be installed from a single excavation in Mahuhu Crescent at the Beach Road intersection.
This will require the lane inbound into Mahuhu Crescent to be closed at this location from 31 May to 30 June. There will be no left or right turn into Mahuhu Crescent from Beach Road during this time. Please follow detour signage and use Te Taou Crescent.
Hours of work: Our crews will be working between 7am and 10pm, seven days a week, to finish the project quickly.
We are mindful that people live in the area and we will be making every effort to minimise disruption, especially noise. Our work hours are inline with Council permitted work hours for the area.
Access to car parking and buildings
In the event that there will be any impact on an access way or driveway, we will consult with affected residents and businesses before we begin work.
Minimising disruption
There will be some noise which is unavoidable. We understand that people live in the area and we will be making every effort to minimise all disruptions, especially noise.
The power supply
The power supply should not be affected in any way.
Traffic management and reinstatement
We have consulted extensively with Auckland City Council regarding our traffic management and work plans, and the reinstatement of work areas will be carried out to the highest standard and under council supervision. When the work is completed, which should be by 30 June, there will no visible signs of the work.
Thank you for your patience
We’d like to thank commuters, residents and businesses, in advance, for their patience and cooperation while work is underway. We will be making every effort to minimise disruption and complete the work as quickly as possible. The work is necessary to reinforce the security of power supply in the city.
