Project File

Vector is undertaking an electricity cable upgrade project to reinforce the power supply in the Avondale and Mt Albert area to ensure our customers continue to receive a secure power supply.

Project timing: This project will be completed in two stages:

•    Stage 1 - 18 April to 10 August 2011 (installation of ducts)

•    Stage 2 – 1 November to 20 December 2011 (cable installation in ducts)

Hours of work

The hours of work will generally be Tuesday to Sunday, 7am to 6pm. However, work outside these hours may be necessary. The project schedule allows for the fastest possible completion and minimum level of disruption under noise and safety restrictions for the type of work that is taking place.

How is the work carried out?

The work will be carried out by open trenching for the majority of the length of the project. The road will not be blocked throughout the works and the directional flow of both traffic lanes will be maintained. However, there will be lane closures and diversions in place Hendon Ave for a portion of the project duration.

Streets affected by this work include: Blockhouse Bay Road (from corner of Chalmers St), New North Road and Hendon Avenue

Will the power supply be affected?

No, the power supply in the area should not be affected by work. In the unlikely event that a planned power outage is required, affected customers will be notified in advance of this occurring.

Will the work affect my driveway?

In the unlikely event that these will affect any driveways, we will consult with affected customers before we begin work and will ensure that access is maintained while the works are underway.

Traffic and pedestrian management

Full traffic management plans have been developed and will be used throughout the project work. The work sites have been designed so that pedestrians will still be able to pass by the works.

We apologise, in advance, for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank you for your patience and cooperation while the work is underway.
