Vector secures exclusive naming rights for Aucklands hottest entertainment venue (26/05/05)

Vector today announced it has secured exclusive naming rights for Auckland’s new world-class entertainment arena in downtown Auckland.

The Vector Arena, which is currently being built in Quay Park, is a multi-functional, high-tech special events venue which is set to attract a range of top international acts and high-profile sporting events when completed in early 2006.

Vector CEO Mark Franklin says the company’s sponsorship of the Arena is an excellent fit given the essential services and benefits both organisations provide to the community.

“As a major provider of electricity, gas and telecommunications services in New Zealand, we are delighted to be associated with what will be another piece of essential infrastructure that contributes significantly to the country’s ongoing economic success.

Not only will the Vector Arena bring new business and employment opportunities to the Auckland community, it will also contribute significantly to the cultural and sporting vitality of the whole country,” he says.

The Vector Arena, which will seat up to 12,200 people, is set to attract major events ranging from internationally-renowned family shows, opera and rock concerts, sporting and business events and exhibitions.

“The Vector Arena will put New Zealand back on the map for major entertainment events given it offers outstanding facilities that no other venue in the country has,” says Mr Franklin.

“I congratulate Auckland City Council for its foresight and vision in creating such an important venue for the city. Vector has also been extremely impressed with the professionalism of the Vector Arena operators, QPAM Limited, and is looking forward to a long and successful association with them.”

In addition to the sponsorship, Vector will also be providing a comprehensive package of electricity, gas and cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure to the newly-developed venue.
