Vector’s Christchurch based operations including the AMS metering business and OnGas LPG business suffered only minor damage and interruption by the major earthquake which hit Christchurch on Saturday 4 September.
Vector Chief Executive Simon Mackenzie said that thorough checks of all Vector facilities had been undertaken although several buildings are yet to be certified as safe. “Our priority is the safety of our staff, and until we have this certification Vector staff will not resume occupation of the building.” This is causing some interruption to AMS Christchurch activities, although most business as usual functions are being maintained.
“The impact of the earthquake on electricity infrastructure in the region has been severe and we have offered any support we can to Orion to assist in getting the network back up and running.”
