UnitedNetworks is setting the pace for this year’s annual Wellington Round the Bays fun run with the launch today of a major competition that will see one lucky entrant and four of their friends win a ‘Dream Run’ they won’t forget.

The ‘UnitedNetworks Wellington Round the Bays’ fun run takes place on Sunday February 20th. The event, which starts at Jervois Quay, sees runners and walkers of all ages take to the seven-and-a-half kilometre course, finishing up at Kilbirnie Park.

UnitedNetworks spokesperson Denise Bailey says the company has been a proud sponsor of the ‘Wellington Round The Bays’ fun run for the last six years and it wanted to do something a little different this year.

“The ‘UnitedNetworks Wellington Round the Bays’ event has become increasingly popular with over nine thousand competitors expected to participate this year. Exercise is an extremely important part of people’s health and wellbeing and we wanted to encourage more people to participate this year by giving them the chance to win a ‘Dream Run’ day to remember.”

Under the competition, all those who enter the ‘UnitedNetworks Wellington Round the Bays’ will go into the draw to win a full day of ‘pampering’ for them and a team of four friends on the day of the event.

As a start, the winning team will be kitted out for the race in the latest New Balance sportswear and shoes. They will then limber up on the morning of the event with an exclusive pre-race warm-up session with a one-on-one Bodyworks trainer. The winners will then be accompanied throughout the race by their own team of ‘Dream Run cheerleaders' who will keep them supplied with cold drinks, towels and other Dream Run goodies. Once over the finish line, the team will be treated to a warm-down massage and refreshments before being whisked away in a limousine to the exclusive East Spa for an afternoon of luxurious pampering. The winner’s Dream Run will then be completed with a special dinner for the team at Wellington's Shed 5 restaurant.

Ms Bailey says the day will be a lot of fun and anyone can enter the competition.

“All you need to do is register to participate in the ‘UnitedNetworks Wellington Round the Bays’ before 13 February and you will automatically be placed in the draw.

The UnitedNetworks Round the Bays is always a lot of fun so we encourage everyone, regardless of their fitness level, to give it a go. Each year there is a real mix of participants - from experienced runners through to those who just want to leisurely walk the course with their families and it's always a great day out. The draw for the UnitedNetworks ‘Dream Run’ competition will take place on 14 February.
