Your contract with us

If you are connected to our North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney electricity network your contract is with your electricity retailer. If you are connected to our Auckland City, Manukau and Papakura electricity network then our standard terms & conditions apply, unless we have another agreement with you.

We have different contract arrangements because of historical differences in network ownership and the customer contracts, service levels and pricing put in place by these owners. Vector purchased UnitedNetworks - the North Shore, Waitakere, Rodney lines company - in 2002.

Additionally, to protect the integrity of Vector’s electricity network and ensure it operates in a safe and efficient manner, all users - and any other person - who has equipment connected, or to be connected, to Vector's network (excluding Transpower) must comply with the requirements set out in the Distribution Code.

LineCare
LineCare is an emergency repair service that enables Vector to assist our Auckland City, Manukau and Papakura residential customers with connection problems on their electricity lines. LineCare covers most problems* that occur on the equipment and lines (service lines), which customers are responsible for. We will repair them, without a call-out charge, up to three times a year.  
 
LineCare is not available on the North Shore, Waitakere and Rodney network. This is because we contract with the retailer in these network areas and not with customers directly.
