Earth Hour 31 March 2012

Earth Hour is a global call to action to individuals, businesses and communities throughout the world to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future.
 
Earth Hour 2012 takes place on Saturday 31 March at 8.30pm (local time), and Auckland will be joining 4,000 plus cities participating world-wide.

Is Vector doing its bit for Earth Hour?
It’s our policy to encourage our staff to be sustainable and we’ll be reminding them, in support of Earth Hour, to turn off lights, computers and other equipment at our offices and facilities.  
 
Power saving tips for Earth Hour and beyond… At home:
  • Turn off unused lights.
  • Switch appliances off at the wall.
  • Be smart with heating and cooling.
  • Turn off your second fridge.
  • Use gas barbeques or gas cooktops.
  • During Earth Hour turn the lights out and use candles/battery operated torches instead.
At the office:
  • Turn off all non-essential lights including meeting rooms and offices.
  •  Apply energy saving settings to computers and other office equipment.
  • At the end of the day, turn off printers, computers, computer monitors, photocopiers and other non-essential equipment.
  • Unplug unused mobile phone and battery chargers.
